Lawns should ideally be mowed on a regular schedule. This schedule helps to create the best lawn possible and keep your grass at a good height without getting too short or too long. While it may seem like mowing a lawn is a straight forward project there are some things that can go wrong. If a lawn is cut too short it is called “a scalped lawn” and can cause the grass to turn brown and look lifeless.
Grass should only be cut about 1/3 of its height. Keeping the grass from growing too tall means you will have to cut the grass frequently. Most homeowners find that their grass needs to be cut weekly to ensure it does not get too tall. The grass should not be cut when it is wet, we will help you set your sprinkler schedule to keep the grass dry for our scheduled service. We maintain our lawn mowing equipment regularly to ensure the blades are sharp and can properly cut the grass and not tear it.
Fertilizing your lawn is a vital part of lawn health but there are a lot of factors to consider. The wrong fertilizer can cause a fertilizer burn that will turn the lawn brown. When choosing a fertilizer you will want to look at the two types- fast-release and slow-release. There are advantages to each of these types and a schedule on which we utilize them. Fast-release fertilized can help green up your lawn at the beginning of spring while a slow release fertilizer is better for continuing into summer. If you notice a fertilizer burn on your lawn you can help minimize the affects by diluting the fertilizer with water. Our team can help with fertilizing your lawn to ensure you do not get any burns. We offer great organic fertilizers that are safe for your pets and children. We will follow a proper fertilizer schedule at our lawn services to keep your grass green and lush all summer long.
We finish every lawn care service by trimming the edges and giving your lawn a fresh manicured edge. We can add a beautiful pattern to your lawn by mowing in a diamond pattern to add an extra touch of class and beauty to you lawn.
After a cold Boise winter your lawn will need a little spring wake up. Our crews provide a spring cleaning service to get your lawn ready for the new season. We will rake the yard to remove any debris, leftover leaves, branches and dead grass. After all the leftover debris are removed we will remove weeds, dry or dead grass patches and any thatch. We aerate the lawns in the spring by removing small plugs of soil with a special tool, the aeration is a great way to help your grass grow well. Aerating the soil allows water, air and nutrients to penetrate the ground effectively and will result in denser and greener grass with stronger roots.
Overseeding your lawn is a common technique to improve the overall look of your grass. We will use a custom seed mix that is able to grow in Boise’s unique climate and mixes well with your current grass. When overseading a second layer of seeds is scatter on the existing lawn during the spring. The seeds are spread after the lawn in aerated and watered. Overseeding helps fill in your lawns sparse areas and creates a lush and green lawn that will last throughout the summer and into the fall season.
